Rapid Prototyping
Progressive Motorsport now have two rapid prototype machines in-house and are making them available for external companies to produce parts. Progressive are able to turn around jobs in incredibly short time-frames.
Rapid prototyping has several advantages over other manufacturing methods, including:
- Fast turn-around time - design to finished component in hours, not days or weeks
- Greater detail - models can be complicated, intricate and detailed, often with no cost penalty
- High durability - models are produced in ABS plastic
ABS plastic parts make it ideal for many applications:
- End-use part
- Prototype visual
- Proof of concept
- Pattern making
- Vacuum forming moulds
- Making jigs
- Functional testing
ABS is highly versatile allowing it to be finished in several ways:
- Sanded
- Bonded
- Painted
- Chrome plated
- Tapped / Threaded inserts added
Progressive are able to produce parts up to the following size:
- 203 x 203 x 152 mm
- Please note that components larger than this can easily be split into several smaller parts (to fit the machine) and then bonded together after manufacture to produce the desired full-size component.
Parts can be produced in different layer thicknesses to meet surface finish and cost requirements.
A large range of colours are available to suit your application:
- Ivory
- Black
- Red
- Olive green
- Nectarine
- Fluorescent yellow
- Blue
- Gray
Progressive can import most 3D CAD formats allowing easy manufacture of your designs. The finished component is purely charged on the print time which is known before the job is started, allowing easy and fast quotes to be made.
